Scholarship Committee Report
November 4, 2020
The scholarship committee continues to provide much-needed funds to 2nd-4th year college students of the Metropolitan Association. This committee was the heart and passion of Louise Manigault, and we are honored to continue her legacy.
In September of 2020, after Louise's passing, the Metropolitan Association Board of Directors changed the name of the award to The Metropolitan Association NY UCC Louise Manigault Scholarship.
This outstanding award will continue to be a blessing to many.
For the 2020 scholarship award year, 7 students were awarded $2000 each.

The Metropolitan Association NY UCC Louise Manigault Scholarship, formally the Congregational Church of South Brooklyn Scholarship, started from a substantial donation from the closed and sold property, made to the Metropolitan Association to fund a scholarship program for undergraduate youth in our Association churches. Those funds have been invested in a special endowment account, and the interest and dividends are used annually to provide scholarships to those students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years of undergraduate studies. They must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, complete an application available beginning in May, and submitted to the Association office by the August 31 deadline, along with transcripts and letters of recommendation from their pastors and parents/guardians.
Additional donations to the scholarship fund which come through Association worship offerings, church, and private donations help to maximize the funds available each year. If you have not made a donation to the Scholarship Fund, we ask that you consider this opportunity to support our youth. Donations can be made online through the Metro website: www.metrouccnyc.org or you can mail donations to the Metro office. All donations are tax-deductible, and you will receive a donation letter from the office.
We have a duty to support our youth who are striving for excellence and future success in careers and business. They are the future leaders of the church and our society, and we must do everything that we can to support and encourage their efforts.
