Dr. Velda Love is the Minister of Racial Justice for the United Church of Christ. In that capacity, Dr. Love develops resources in an effort to equip UCC congregations to be on a restorative racial justice journey to dismantle and eradicate structural, systemic, and individual racism. Her work includes: Historical and contemporary education regarding myths associated with creating skin color categories, the harmful impact of racism and microaggressions in church and society and restorative justice practices, healing narratives, and culture-centered theological and biblical resources as correctives to racism
Dr. Shana Mashego holds the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music & the Master of Arts Degree in Music & Research from Texas Southern University, as well as the Doctor of Arts Degree in Ethnomusicology & Voice from The University of Arizona. During Dr. Mashego's doctoral degree journey, her interest in the lives of African Americans came into full focus. While Shana's initial research concentrations were primarily centered in Ethnomusicology and Voice with a focus upon the lives and works of Black Female Composers, she was given the opportunity to receive extensive instruction in Anthropology with an emphasis on African American culture from the Research Faculty of The University of Arizona Africana Studies Program. Dr. Mashego shares her love for the beauty of ethnicity as she leads The Sacred Ensemble, A Christian Hymn Preservation Ensemble where she serves as Soprano and Visionary.
Let the Sisters gather with our extraordinary Moderator: Rev. Ebony Grisom. Rev Ebony is the Protestant Chaplain on the Law and Main Campuses of Georgetown University. A graduate of Duke Divinity School, Rev. Grisom received a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Education and a certificate in Gender, Theology and Ministry.
