Invitation to the 75th Anniversary Celebration
October 2018
Dear Friends:
Greetings with Jesus’ joy!
As you know, the second Sunday of December marks 75 years since CCSH was formed. For more than 3,900 Sundays, the Congregational Church of South Hempstead has been a welcoming community of faith, shining the light of Jesus. Praise God for the part that we have served in this wonderful faith tradition!
On Sunday December 9, 2018, the second Sunday of December we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of CCSH with the theme “The Road Thus Far, The Road Ahead” from Judges 18:5-6 “Then they said, “Ask God whether or not our journey will be successful.” “Go in peace,” the priest replied. “For the Lord is watching over your journey.” We will begin the day with a 9:45 am Youth Worship led entirely by children, youth and young adults, and later with a 4:00pm 75th Anniversary Worship with special guest preacher the Rev. Dr. Starsky D. Wilson, Pastor of the St. Johns United Church of Christ in St. Louis, MO and President of the Deaconess Foundation (also in St. Louis). An anniversary dinner will be served at 6:00pm immediately following the worship. The entire 75th Anniversary celebration will be held in the CCSH sanctuary and fellowship hall.
We invite everyone who loves CCSH to join in the celebration. Bring your young ones to participate in the Youth Worship. Come on out for worship in the morning and the evening, and for the scrumptious dinner to be prepared especially for you. Invite everyone! A glorious time in the Lord is guaranteed for all!
Please join those who have begun to give generously in honor of this momentous occasion. A few folks have already donated to cover the costs of airfare and hotel for our guest speaker. Others have donated gifts of $75 one dollar for each year to the church. Would you please consider a special CCSH 75th Anniversary gift of $75 or more? You can take 5 minutes and give online (like I just did) by visiting our website at theccsh.org, clicking on the “DONATE” tab and following the payment instructions. Or you can give the old-fashioned way with cash, or a check made out to “Congregational Church of South Hempstead” in the enclosed special envelope (if you give online, you can enclose a copy of your payment receipt in the special envelope, if you like). However you choose to do it, please give generously. Your tithes, gifts and offerings make ministry possible at CCSH.
Bless the Lord for 75 years of ministry through our amazing congregation!
Sincerely,
Patrick G. Duggan
